Comment and I'll give you a letter; then you have to list 10 things you love that begin with that letter. Afterwards, post this in your journal and give out some letters of your own.
nienna_weeper gave me 'O'...
1. O is for Oranges. I've loved oranges since I was a kid, but would always ask my Dad to peel them for me!
2. O is for Orange juice. OK, I know it's LIKE oranges, but it isn't the same...always my preferred juice, and again, when a kid I would always have it when we went to the Festival Hall for a concert and/or afternoon tea. They used to put a slice of orange in it, and it felt SO exotic!
3. O is for Observational Drawing. I am having real battles with Lizzie at the moment, as her Art teachers have both said she needs to do more observational drawing. I love it, it's like mindless scale practice for artists. You don't have to think or plan out a picture, just draw what's in front of you and make marks. Lizzie HATES it because she can't see that it isn't necessary to produce a perfect representation and she keeps complaining 'it looks wrong'.
4. O is for Octopus. OK, I don't LOVE them, but they do fascinate me. Seeing film of one squeezing into the tiniest of spaces is quite...disturbing!
5. O is for Orang-Utan. Again, don't LOVE them, but their fur/hair is the most amazing colour, and the babies are so sweet. Heve tried to stare one out at Dudley Zoo and failed.
6. O is for Old Buildings. Ever since I trained as an architect, I have loved visiting old buildings. The older and more ruined the better of course, as I can let my imagination run riot.
7. O is for Old Photographs. OK, OK, I KNOW I've been cheating and using 'old' again, but 'O' is REALLY DIFFICULT! And also, old photographs (and the next catagory) realy DO fascinate me and I love looking at them. I have several books from Picture Post and the like, and find staring at the old faces and settings absolutely enthralling. I remember once finding a street urchin in Russia in about 1930, AND IT WAS NICK, NO doubt about it. Slightly disturbingly so!
8. O is for Old Mirrors. Yep, the third in the 'old' series. I've always loved staring into old mirrors in the aforementioned old buildings and wondering just what scenes they reflected when they were new. They are like a little bit of time travel to me, in my imagination anyway.
9. O is for Old Comics. Dare I use 'old' again? Well I have to I'm afraid, as my collection of old 1960's Superman, DC and Marvel comics are extremely special to me! I re-read them from time to time and am taking straight back to my memories of sitting in the back of my Dad's newsagents on the floor and reading about all the super heroes.
10. O is for Oven. I don't particularly LOVE my oven - in fact it is probably about due for replacement, but I LOVE what comes out of it. I love cooking (AND EATING unfortunately!) but now am having to get used to cooking for a lot less! Not only have the two eldest gone now to Uni, but they were the ones who ate the most too! Our shopping bills have gone RIGHT down, but I STILL end up with twice as much food than we need!
Phew, I managed it...sort of!
