In-Laws impending visit....
May. 8th, 2004 04:15 pmOh well, the house is reasonably clean, the fridge is stuffed full of food and middle son has moved out of his room for the next few days while the in-laws visit.
It will be nice, we get on well, but for some reason this time I feel incredibly nervous and anxious! They visit us so rarely, I think they have been here only twice in nearly 9 years, we always visit them, and I feel very much as though I am about to be inspected, even though we have been married a VERY long time!
Also..there is a tiny part of me that is apprehensive of what father-in-law will say when he sees my 'Westering Home' painting, which is sitting drying on the easel and waiting framing. He is, or was, a good painter, well used to oils, and I do value his opinion...which is probably why I'm feeling scared! I mentioned it to other half and his answer was, 'well, you could put it away if you feel like that.'
Dammit, that was NOT what I wanted him to say!..I wanted him to say, 'don't worry it is fine and looks good!'....and being the super-sensitive bitch that I am at the moment, I am now thinking 'What does he mean by that?'
Anyway....won't be around for much the next few days, as I need to be hostess. Hmmm ... wonder where I put that frilly apron?
