A grey dawn...
Sep. 9th, 2006 02:52 pmRight. There is light on the horizon...a sort of smudgy grey light, but light none the less.
I feel much better now I am less 'michelin man' and more 'old lady' in the surgical stockings without the yards of bandage, and I feel much more comfortable.
The main thing is that Nick seems to be having some luck now with the flat hunting, the uni accommodation having let him down badly with only two weeks to go.
Basically they offered him fully catered halls, at a vast price with so many restrictions it was more like boarding school than student flats...(boiled eggs for breakfast by prior arrangement. No alcohol with meals. (Er..hello? Students?) late breakfast on Sundays at between 8.30am and 9.30am...whoopee a lie-in. etc etc.) plus if he took it in the hope he might get a cancelled self catering room, there was no guarantee at all, and if he left having found his own flat later in the term, unless they found a replacement for him, he would be liable to continue to pay the rent regardless...and at £142 a WEEK, that was prohibitive.
SO, he has been emailing and phoning round, and has several very good and promising leads, good prices, nice sounding landlords, and he and Simon and gf Liz will pop down next weekend and flat hunt.
