It pays to complain...
Jan. 17th, 2009 09:04 pmA couple of weeks ago while Spouse and Daughter were away, Middle son and g/f came back to Bromsgrove on a quick visit while g/f got her car MOT'd and serviced, and so we went out to the newly opened Pizza Express.
Now this is somewhat of a minor miracle that Bromsgrove has actually attracted Pizza Express to the town centre and so we were all excited in the way that only people who have until recently have had nothing but the chipper or local Indian restaurants to choose from. Nothing wrong with either, but it's nice to have a change and I've eaten at Pizza Express now for going on towards three decades and the food is always good.
Anyway, it was a quiet night, the restaurant was half full, the food was just as good as always and the new decor was really very attractive...but the service was shite. We had to wait about an hour between starter and main course and not one word from anyone until it was JUST about served and then mine was pretty much slammed down in front of me.
So I wrote a polite 'good news bad news good news' comment on Mr Pizza Express's website. 'Food and decor excellent as always, service crap, disappointed as we were pleased to see Pizza Express as it's an asset to the town.'
My comment was passed the next day to the manager and he then phoned with profuse apologies and offered me another return trip, on the house at a time to suit me.
Needless to say, we took him up on it and have just had a delightful and totally free meal for spouse, daughter and me with impeccable service, much attention and handshakes all round.
THAT'S how to win customers back.
So the lesson kiddies, is NEVER stand for poor service, but be polite!
