I am off for the weekend!..again. Abandoning family is becoming a habit, I am afraid. I am just so grateful that they are not complaining!

This time its Youth Hostelling in Tintagel. I stayed there before, and the hostel is right on the edge of the cliff overlooking the sea.

I just hope the weather isn't dire! I shall take my rain gear just in case, after all this IS the English summer we are talking about...

My friend and I will be walking, and visiting the castle there. It is almost on an island, linked by a tiny bridge at the bottom of an extremely steep flight of steps down and up!

The castle is the place that King Arthur was supposed to have been born, and there is a vast cave at the bottom of the cliffs called Merlin's Cave that goes right through the base of the island. I may sketch a bit too.

Mostly though, I think we will sit, looking out to sea, drinking a couple of bottles of wine and chat!

Ahh.. Tintagel.. the place of legends and myths... gorgeous place... and I so hope it's nice if you go up to the castle.. wonderful views there... take your sketchbook! :)

Thanks, I will!...I expect I shall write it up when I return, and maybe even have some sketches, if I get round to it, and it isn't too wet!

.....and Sildil is lost somewhere, looking for Nov, after her wretched cousin told him that she had run away from Imladris. I have the feeling that he has got into terrible trouble again, though I don't know what yet! I just hope that Taurnil doesn't think that he has dumped him for someone else, they had a date I think, that Sil didn't turn up for!

OH how wonderful! I was just telling Alexcat in her lj that mums need to take that time...away. With a friend or alone, the mental break from family is the vacation....

...going with family for a week anywhere is NOT a vacation for mothers!

I quite agree! If we go as a family, even if they all do their part in helping cook, wash up and stuff, (since they are all old enough now for that) it is still my responsibility to plan the meals and stuff and shop. And then they get all impatient when I say we can't do something because I need to throw in some washing!

As you say, it is the mental break as much as anything else that helps!

Oh Tintagel is beautiful - I went there a couple of years ago

Have fun (even though the word Youth Hostel sends a shudder down my spine!) and relax without the family.

We had great fun!..and I shall no doubt be posting an account in my LJ as soon as I get myself sorted out.

And I know what you mean about Youth Hostels, though we are very keen as a family, BUT I defy anyone not to like the hostel at Tintagel, as it is right on the very edge of the cliffs with the most stunning view ever imaginable. Everyone who goes there just spends hours staring out at the sea!

I have Yahoo and AOL..
I tend to use Yahoo mostly as AOL tends to make my computer slow down for some reason, but on AOL I am si1di1, both the 'L's are number ones. If you friend me, I shall do the same back.
