I've been quietly admiring your drawings here and the illustrations on erestor's site as they've appeared. This Anand one is beautiful - love the finch, even if it is looking unusually well-behaved in the portrait. You have a really nice, distinctive style; as Rattie once said, it reminds me of old woodcuts and mediaeval illuminatins, and this one certainly gives the feel of some traditional Eastern art I've seen.

Love the new-look LJ too - told you anuanu was good at the web design stuff! ;-D

Thanks for your comments!..when I did the drawing of Lord Anand, I referenced traditional Indian Art as I knew what I wanted it to look like.
I'm glad it was noticeable!

Yes, I think it worked out very well, then - a good friend of mine from school went travelling in Turkey and northern India, and she sent me or brought me back quite a few postcards of wall-paintings, carpet designs, old illuminations because she knew they'd interest me... This is what I recognised in your Lord Anand drawing - the pose, the way of holding the bird, the patterns you've put on the clothing and at the top and bottom. It's got the style and mood, without being too much a copy of anything.
