Birth, reaching my majority and sadder news.

Thank you everyone for the birthday wishes, it was lovely to return from my short break to find so many!

This morning I sat on a stone throne at Rowtor Rocks (will post picture below) and had my birthday cake, and now I am back home waiting for the kids to get in from school to wish me happy birthday.



Other half and I had a brilliant time in Derbyshire, all things considered: Wednesday we walked in my favourite dale (pic below)...



Thursday we spent the entire day at Chatsworth and saw where they filmed some of the recent Pride and Prejudice scenes at 'Pemberly' (the sculpture court).

I now feel entitled to do anything I damn well please since I have actually reached my elven majority!

The extremely sad part of the whole trip was that we heard the unfortunate news that my father in law died unexpectedly. It was quite a shock, obviously more so to my other half, and he will be going down to his mother's this weekend. We will then go together to the funeral.

James Henderson was a real character, could be an argumentative so and so, but was always supportive of my drawing and was himself a very good artist. He spent his working life as a journalist on the Express latterly as Syndication Editor for Rupert Bear and even penned some of the stories. He was a man of tremendous learning and intellect and I will miss him.

Thank you, for both comments. The stone is lovely, actually carved as a set of three thrones and I sit there imagining Thranduil and Legolas!
