Mar. 3rd, 2004 11:26 pmToday has been one long frustration from start to finish, the ONLY highlight, (which was a VERY big one) was eldest playing 'Fat Sam' in the school production of Bugsy Malone, which was brilliant! He shone, and his characterisation was 'John Cleese meets the Godfather'!!!
Apart from that the day was dire....
1 I went on the computer to discover that yahoo have taken over btinternet...fine, except it took me about an hour and a half to sort out the settings.
2 Shopping (via internet) was supposed to be delivered between 10 and 12. It arrived at 4 minutes to 12..thus making me late for work.
3 I had to leave all shopping unpacked and then dash to work late, where my boss (who did ask very nicely - I know I'm appreciated) kept me back half hour longer than I expected..."there are just two more letters, if you can manage"..*looks hopeful*..."Ooops, no sorry, three"..etc., etc..
4 Got back home to log on to the internet again, where I find I have a VIRUS...which has been using 'me' to send out Spam...bastards. Castration is too good for them. So instead of cheering myself up with some nice surfing, I end up having to spend bloody ages getting rid of the thing...done now,(I hope) thanks to Geek's bratling's help. Geek's comment while on YIM with me..."It must be bad..you don't usually swear."
5 As a background to all this is the fact that I have tried to do the same bloody drawing THREE times now and I am still not happy with it. This is probably the main reason I am in such a black mood...I HATE it when a drawing gets the better of me, but I WILL NOT LET IT..I am the master here, dammit!!!
..hence, my listening to 'Teenage Kicks' on repeat...again and again and again...

Date: 2004-03-04 06:07 am (UTC)I thought about my drawing last night in bed, as you do, and decided that the problem was that it had no real emotion...I've been trying to draw the scene in Anu's HotGF when Glorfindel comes down the stairs with Idril, and Turgon is waiting at the bottom. It's a lovely scene in the story, but no matter what I do, it comes out as three figures; bamn, bamn, bamn, with no emotional connection.
I can get Idril and Fin, but not Turgon into the mix. And its also a difficult picture to structure...as there are at least if not three physical levels, when you incorporate stairs.
Anyway, I'm going away for the weekend (with other half - we're running away and leaving the 'kids' who are just old enough now to leave, 18, 16, 14!) and I shall do some 'normal' sketching and brood on it. I think I have solved it actually...Turgon needs to be doing something to welcome Fin, he's been far too passive till now!! And I shall layer the figures up more, in line so to speak.
Sorry to ramble on, but I know that you'll know what I'm talking about!...and I found the sketchbook page on your site fascinating! You are very good and far more thorough than me!
