A Day Out in London...
Mar. 19th, 2006 12:19 pmHad a great day yesterday, (in spite of my own black mood which I could NOT shift) as daughter wanted to go to London as a sort of birthday treat.... ...Other half and me and her drove down in the car and parked in Hammersmith and then took the tube to South Kensington and 'did' the V&A costume collection. She had never been (at least not in her memory) and LOVED all the clothes there ranging from bodices from circa 1650 to Vivienne Westwood ballgowns and all in between...

We met up with my half-sis as well, who works occasionally at the V&A running and organising conferences and the like, which was nice, and my half-brother too who was working there, who I haven't seen for about 5 years (and I finally met his girlfriend too, also helping out...yeah my family are a bit incestuous like that, though not in the literal sense!)
Then we went to Camden Lock Market, http://www.camdenlockmarket.com/flash_main.htm which was a nostalgia trip for me and other half, as I think the last time we went there was probably about 20 plus years ago when a friend of mine used to work in Dingwall's nightclub there, now LONG gone. Anyway Lizzie came away with a very nice black and cream loooooong ribbed sweater dress thingy, which looks fantastic on her, and from 'Fairy Goth mother' http://www.fairygothmother.com/ she got a VERY pretty dress in the sale (purple/black bodice, floaty skirt) and ogled ALL the corsets. Her trip has certainly inspired her even further for costume design and she now wants to have a go at making a corset herself. (and
marchwarden23 knows the site well and is cheaper (and probably better...ask Jay!)
Considering my foul mood, I had a good time and managed by and large I think to stop myself from being an absolute bitch to all and sundry, certainly other half and daughter enjoyed themselves enormously, and I was glad for that.
Coming home I found gifts from
mirien which cheered me up considerably and I am WEARING THE MOST BEAUTIFUL RUE-TYPE BRACELET that she made especially for me in record time! If I can get a decent photo of it, I will :)
Edit:
Here you go!
