Hmm, that's a very interesting piece of artwork. I watched it for a long time. There's a picture of Britain in the soil, not only the angel. It's like Blake's concept of Albion which is the heart of the world - it's the United Kingdom including Ireland, Scotland, England and Wales which should be one and not divided and it etched literally into the living energetic landscape here. So in that way, it is visionary. Also the way the water tumbles out of the sky with the reflection of the clouds enclosed in it is like the Hindi version of the spiritual Ganges which flows from Shiva's head and nourishes the earth. There - like here - the clouds are the spark of conscious life which permeates into the Nature and gives life. The perspective of the 'bowl' shape is nice, as if the spiritual water is being poured into the receptacle of earth. I saw another picture recently where the earth and the sky were lovers and the creation was the earth. This one reminds me of that and it's more symbolised which I like very much. Well done!
It's interesting, the symbolism of water. The same thread runs through Christianity as well, and the analogy of the tree by the water's edge, which is what I had in mind when I drew it. But then the basic divine truths are there regardless of the clothing...water, trees, earth and heaven!
If all the surface decoration was stripped away, it would be so much clearer and simpler!
I'm glad you like it :)
I have it in mind to do some more symbolic stuff actually, sort of a meditation series...
That would be really interesting! I think the artworld is due to go through another big renaissance, rather like the one that occurred around the time of Blake and Fuseli and Wordsworth (that which Blake's biographer the excellent Peter Ackroyd termed 'the new romantic movement' as opposed to the old order of thinking), that includes literature and artwork. The Aquarian Age has a lot to do with the movement of a spiritual revival and symbolises it. How about a continuing exploration of the elemental forces of nature - earth, water, fire, air, light, ether? You've already ventured into earth and light with your latest paintings. LOL I'm getting excited now.
