Every Cloud...

sildilEvery cloud has its silver lining, so they say, and because I wasn't in Switzerland I was at home to see our friends as they dropped by for lunch during their visit over here from Spain. He is probably my oldest friend, another Simon, who I was at college with, and he went out to Spain (Barcelona) to teach English having given up architecture about 10-15 years ago. Het met Carmen, got married, and they now have a little boy, Mark.
They don't come over here that often and the last couple of times it wasn't possible to meet up, so this was the first time I'd seen them in about five or six years. Gosh he hadn't changed a bit! A little grey, and little rounder, but that was all! And still with the charming habit of speaking English s-l-o-w-l-y and c-a-r-e-f-u-l-l-y with lots of gestures so that we understand him!
So, we caught up and chatted and gossiped about mutual friends and it made the day something very nice instead of a disappointment.
And the bonus is the house is AMAZINGLY clean and tidy!
