Oh well.

A few weeks ago I mentioned doing some pics as a mag I subscribe to had asked for submissions for Lord of the Rings fanart for a 'special edition'. Thought I'd give it a go, and sent the following two pieces, plus my Erestor and Glorfindel portraits.

Anyway, they didn't get printed. I'm a bit dissapointed, but more cross actually as the issue was tagged as 'Lord of the Rings fanart issue!' and how many Lord of the Rings related pics did they print? Three.

The rest of the reader's showcase had about half a dozen completely unrelated pics.

Humph. I wouldn't have minded if the mag had been packed with wonderful LotR art, but just THREE pics? Some special issue.

They are behind a cut as they are big piccies, but look best at that size...if anyone has problems seeing them, let me know and I'll squash them down.

Back to the drawing board, I guess!

Mmhhh I have the idea that you always have to be "a friend of" to be taken in consideration, no matter how wonderful your art is and how talented you are. And sadly this kind of beahviour is pretty common lately.

I think those are terrifi pieces of art. You should print a booklet and sell it on e-bay.

Have you ever considered the idea of matching your drawing talent and your writing talent and make a sort of Doujinshi, or comic? It seems they are sold very well, especially yaoi and slash stories.

Just to give you an idea: http://bishonenworks.com/cart/main/index.php

There are so many thing you can do with your skills and then open your little shop on ebay (it's very easy to open one).

These are just so VERY awesome!!! *too early in the a.m. for me to wax poetic ~ but the movement, lighting and composition in both blow me away. WELL DONE is an understatement.

It suddenly occured to me that you need to do more with this stuff than just LOTR.s.

I'm even thinking childrens books, magazine illustrations (commissions)....your style is very unique and could find a home in many print media aswell as online.

Put together a portfolio STAT. Make a website and say you take commissions and print up post cards and business cards (even a few from home) ~ mail out the former and keep the latter in your wallet at all times and pimp thyself.

Get your work into card shops ....get seen.

Woman it would be a crime if you did not do this thing. People can't publish what they don't know about....*wags finger*

Wow...the balrog picture is just amazing. Really wonderful. I love it!

It's disappointing about the magazine. Is there another publication to which you could send them? It's a shame not to see them published somewhere.

((hug))

They are both amazing! I love the Balrog pic, the detail on each character is perfect.

I'm sorry the magazine didn't include them :( It's their loss!

These are wonderful! I hope you are able to find an outlet on eBay or elsewhere to market your art, because it's so unique and wonderful.

LAME.
And by "special" they really mean "barely a passing nod of acquaintance in the general difrection".
*points up*
Lots of good suggestions from the f-list there. You deserve better than to be compared to others for a silly contest "special". You should have a spotlight all your own. <3 <3 <3
