*pouts* LJ ate my first comment. *pokes LJ* I really like the one of Lizzie. I love the choice of colors and the emotions you evoked with these pics. They're positively lovely. *grins* *hgush* Es.~*crosses fingers LJ doesn't eat comment this time*
WOW...I totally completely love the beech leaves one! (and orange isn't my color...) It's impressive! And Lizzie looks like a teenager, that whole eye rolling ...'my god are you other people stupid' look.
Actually, sometimes I feel a fraud as it really isn't that difficult if you have any eye for colour and shape at all! These pictures were the result of an hour or two's fiddling.
First I take a picture that I like and that I think will make a good subject. Then I play with the brightness, contrast and colour, tweaking it till it begins to look interesting. Then I put it through a posterize setting - this sort of breaks down the colours into fewer numbers, and then I put it into a woodcut setting which sort of reduces it even more. The woodcut setting is in some ways the most fiddly and critical, as I can select how thick I want the blacks, how heavy, how much 'messiness' etc., and I play with that till I'm satisfied. Then I enhance some of the colours with various tools. It's far more a matter of fiddling till I am happy than anything else!
Actually, now you've given me an idea of doing a 'how to' post!
