Just for those of you across the water...
Jul. 22nd, 2007 01:18 pmWe have SERIOUS floods. I know that I mentioned the rain before, and
mirien's recent write up of her own personal experience of helping out with flooded cottages and road is an even better account, but just for those of you interested...

We have a number of towns and villages cut off, one of which has the water purification plant under water. A friend we know was unable to leave where they worked in Tewkesbury and drove around looking for a work colleague's house, not knowing the number, just the street and the car she drove. On arrival he found FOUR other colleagues also camping out having done the same thing!
The amount of damage and personal loss of property and crops is really quite catastrophic, and the still pictures and news items really do not get it across as effectively as seeing the Sky News helicopter video shots of acres and acres and ACRES of flooded property and fields, homes, shops, business and petrol stations feet deep in water.
