It is soooo good. We bought it on DVD when it was a really cheap offer having seen the trailers but missed it in the cinema. The costumes are gorgeous too and the lighting. It manages to create a fin de siecle atmosphere absolutely perfectly.
Oh yes, I love it too! Rented it one day when I couldn't see anything in the shop I particularly wanted to watch, just because I like Edward Norton - I'd never heard of the film before, I don't follow movie releases or cinema listings because I'm not a cinema-goer as basically I'm crap at sitting still for anything like the length of a movie... Ended up buying the DVD and have watched it quite a few times.
This, "The Painted Veil" and "Atonement" were my favourite films of the last couple of years.
Yes this is the second time I've watched it and I enjoyed it just as much if not more. It's a really nicely crafted little tale.
Oh and while I've got you here, you may have missed eldest son is getting married in April next year, in Edinburgh! His girlfriend (from Bromsgrove) and he live there now and they are having the wedding in the City Chambers wedding suite (which looks stunning) and then the photos are going to be in the grounds at Holyrood Palace, because they both work there! We can't wait! I thought of it as I JUST saw their photos when they visited Stirling Castle last week. Gosh they've done loads there since I last went!
