Oct. 30th, 2008 08:57 amWe had a good drive down to Dorset and the hire car was fine, we arrived late Sunday night. Today we did various shopping things and pottered about, then at the end of the day when it was heading towards dusk and the sky was dramatic-ish I decided to dash to Maiden Castle with the new camera.
I climbed up to the top and then cut across the middle, more or less, so sort of cut off the end third, then walked around the ramparts of the other two thirds. The sky was amazing and as the rain had blown over, it was quite clear in parts and the lighting was great. I took as many photos as I could till it got ridiculously dark, and then made my way back down.
I must admit the last couple of hundred yards up on the top were a teensy bit dark, nothing but sheep bleating and looming out of the dusk and me wondering where the path down was! I had a brief moment of idly wondering if this was one of those ghost stories where the main character wanders round for the rest of eternity in a twilit field, but then saw the gate posts marking the exit.
So here for your perusal is Maiden Castle at dusk. And yes, at least half the time I was thinking of you, mirien!

The weather was nice Tuesday morning, so Lizzie and I went down to Chesil beach at Abbotsbury and walked along a little bit and I took more moody photos.
