Apart from the fun had being daft role-playing elves at the weekend, as written up late last night in an exhausted haze, Jen and I did find time to do

The Edward Hopper exhibition was fabulous, in spite of us being late for our timed slot. The colours were so much brighter and actually seeing 'Nighthawks' and 'Early Sunday Morning', (my personal favourite) was wonderful.

The meal with Craig Parker was a delight...he is SUCH a sweetie! Very entertaining and witty. And as described in the last LJ entry, we only just made it there after having to trek throughout Docklands looking for the nearest cash machine, dressed in our finery! We certainly turned heads, though I am not sure if it was for the right reasons!

On Sunday, we headed for the British Museum for a browse, and were delighted to see a few of the costumes from Troy on display...I actually got THAT close to the bit of leather that actually touched Brad Pitt's bum!...*sighs and swoons*.

We then finished off the day with a trip to 'Forbidden Planet' and I got the last part of 'FAKE'!!!! I read it, twice, on the train home!!! Oh boy!

Ah...yes. Going home. Well, late morning I checked my mobile to phone and tell other half the train times and when to expect me back, and found an intriguing short story unfolding in text messages, from middle son (16), as follows:

1. Dad has cut his finger really badly. I don't know what to do.
2. Richard is coming round. (Richard is our next door neighbour, and a GP)
3. It's alright, Heather has dealt with it. (Heather is Richard's wife and a nurse)
4. Looks like its fish and chips for tea.

Apparently other half had been cutting up chicken *winces* and managed to slice off the tip of his thumb. Neighbours were called in, Nick said 'Dad swore...a lot', and Heather (neighbour - see above) dashed into the local accident and emergency dept.and raided their supplies, came back and dealt with it on the kitchen table.

Now he has to keep it raised for a few days, can't drive yet, will probably not have full use of his thumb back for about six months, but worst of all is going to find it hard playing the guitar, which is his real passion. He hopes that when it's better he'll find a way to compensate. (It's his strumming and picking hand, which is a bugger, if it were the other it wouldn't be a problem.)

Can't leave them alone for a minute, can you?

Meep!

*hugs*

Well.. what an.. experience? At least they managed to deal with it...

Maybe he could try learning to strum with the other hand? Would come in handy... I think?
