We're All Going on a Summer Holiday...

Just to let you good folks know that I am off on holiday tomorrow, Saturday, for one week of much needed bliss in Derbyshire, my favourite place on earth. Gently bleak landscape, windswept hills and hidden dales.

I am taking eldest's laptop so I may be around on IM briefly, just to keep in touch, and hope also to get some of my much neglected writing done!

...and now, to face the morning at work - after a day like yesterday, I am NOT optomistic.....

Have a wunnerful time! I've never been to Derbyshire but I bet it's warmer than San Francisco right about now, where in my second floor apartment it is so cold and foggy that I'm swathed in layers that look distinctly Slavic due to their sheer number and volume. That's right, I actually have fog in my apartment.

My favorite place on earth is Fiji, but Deryshire sounds cooler.

*LOL* Well, probably not warmer, it can be quite bleak up on the moors, but I like that sort of countryside!

Is any part of that green? If not, it looks a little like the Sierra Madre in north eastern California, sort of dry scrubby country, where the Gold Rush started in the 19th century.

And I don't think you have scrubland with manzanita in England....

yes, it is actually all green..the basic rock is limestone, and the dale is literally littered with old lead mines, some of which can be explored by potholers and go on for miles underground. Hopefully, if I get my act together, I may do some painting!

Thank you! I did see your comment while I was away, but could do nothing about it as the internet connection was very touchy (ie; no signal and had to drive miles to find one!) I did have a great time, very restful and refreshing.
