Matthew the Raven for Onyx.......

A loooooong time ago I said I would draw Matthew the Raven for onyx_shinigami........sometimes it takes me months to get the right muse but here he is at last!

Matthew the Raven comes into the absolutely WONDERFUL 'Sandman' graphic novels by Neil Gaiman. He is there as a raven the majority of the time, accompanying the Dream Lord, Morpheus and doing his errands, and this is just my interpretation of him.

I'm glad you like him! I really enjoyed drawing him, and doing the research, reading through the yet novels yet again. They are SUCH fantastic stories! I wanted him to look slightly rough and ready, as Matthew the Raven is very irreverent to Dream in the books!

*giggles* He's too cool for words. I love his hair. The coloring is excellent. And I have a weakness for the line that shows between a man's abs and his hips, which you have mouth-wateringly added like you read my mind.

It wasn't difficult! I love that line too, especially to draw, there is something so tactile and delicious.....*sighs* male bodies generally do that for me anyway!

"Drive on the right! Drive on the GODDAMN RIGHT!"

That is the most memorable line from Matthew. I adored him as a character. I also loved how he did not want to leave Dream's side when he went to the edge of The Dreaming to deal with the Furies and see Death. I cried my eyes out on that one. *adores Neil Gaiman and The Sandman* A dear friend of mine and I wrote this fan script for it years and years ago... one day I will type it all in and share it with people.

Oh yes, I loved that part too, the bit at the end in 'The Kindly Ones' when Dream says goodbye as Matthew flies off for the last time gets me every time too. Neil Gaiman stories are quite perfect, some of the best things I've read in a long time, I am a HUGE fan! Didn't know you were too, though it comes as no surprise!!

*giggles* Oh yes. Michelle introduced me to it in 1995, while we were in summer school together. We were so bored with the Algebra that we wrote the script back and forth. I tended to write Death and other such characters while she wrote Dream, Matthew and the Corinthian.

Do you have a favorite volume of the tradepaper backs? Oh, and have you seen the fan pic of Dream and Daniel that's floating around on the net?

No I haven't seen the pic???? Please show me or link me!!! My favorite stories HAVE to be the ones in 'Dream Country', 'Calliope' and 'Midsummer Nights Dream' in particular, but I also like 'The Sound of Her Wings' as I adore 'Death', and she is so very good in that one.
