The Secret
Apr. 10th, 2005 07:07 pm
I have had a tedious day, scanning in and printing photos for daughters art project, and finding, and failing more often than not, to get pics of other artists work for her so she can use them as reference. She actually took the photos herself, but I am much quicker than her at the scanning and stuff. Anyway, this old computer really did have its work cut out for it and by the afternoon I was literally screaming with frustration. SO..... the only way I know of unwinding is drawing, so I threw together this pic.
Take it as a challenge if you like, the fair-haired and dark-haired elf of your choice, and it's called, 'The Secret'. Anyone out there fancy writing a little story to go with it?

If frustration makes you draw something so beautiful, well, I can only hope that you won't get rid of that comp in the near future... ;)
*hugs*

As long as there is no time limit, I will do a ficlet of some sort.
I completely agree with Nellas. I think it's lovely, dear.

Date: 2005-04-10 08:38 pm (UTC)WELL I certainly am glad that someone else unwinds/relaxes and/or just plain lets moss grow on the brain at the end of a tedious day by sitting and drawing.
It's hard to explain how something that would frustrate one person just mellows us out.
Lovely. I really like the necklines on the blonde elf...that's a great 3-D effect there with a few gracefull strokes... *two thumbs up*

Date: 2005-04-10 10:11 pm (UTC)Thanks for your comments, each time I draw something I feel I learn...and there are always bits I like, bits I don't like and bits I don't even notice, I am sure you are the same!

Date: 2005-04-10 10:25 pm (UTC)Somedays you feel that you couldn't transfer the image in your head to paper if your life depended upon it >.<
Other days you blow through these things like a breeze.
AND then there is the things you love about the drawing most people just don't see because they are little personal triumphs....and things you HATE that they don't see unless you point them out (like heck I will...they irritate me enough as it is)
Sometimes you stare at it so long you can't see the mistakes anymore...until someone mentions them *face palm*
Now I just learned some thing interesting....(about 30 minutes ago)
I am sitting her colourizing Elrond...this is one of my older drawings and although I can pin point about a dozen things seriously wrong with it, it is still one of my favorites because it just speaks to me.
As I was starting the tedious job of whiting out...I realized that I can replace the greytone with gratations of colour right of the bat, cutting a step out of the process for myself. *face palm*
the amusing thing is that I can now also fix the things that have made me wince for ages *^__^*
...and because it's my own...I have not a bit of guilt over the process....after all, the sketch (finished drawing or not) is....mine.

Date: 2005-04-10 10:33 pm (UTC)I find that the urge to draw something sometimes, like this afternoon, is like a terrible itch, or a headache that won't go till you do something about it. The worst thing is when you do and it is still crap and then you almost wish you hadn't! Thankfully today's remedy was OK!

Date: 2005-04-10 10:53 pm (UTC)I didn't realize then, that you can use it in place of the mouse and it is FANTASTIC!! UTTERLY BRILLIANT!!!!
(is she in love with her stylus? yes she very much is)
It's so easy to use that once you have a hang of it, you'll compare a mouse to a rock.
