[livejournal.com profile] ford_of_bruinen wrote a poem for me at my request about Legolas and the Gulls, so I did a picture to go with it...

Had I known what the sea would look like
How the white gulls would call to my heart
Would I have followed him through darkness
When it is the light that is stealing my soul?

In my mind I can still hear them singing
The sounds of the waves on the sand
And my memory soars in the night time
Hearing the gulls that sweep over the sea

And so I met my doom in that hour
When we thread down the mountain side
Where the land and the sea are kissing
I knew what my faith would be

Still for a while I must linger in torment
my heart and my soul torn apart
but when the leaves are finally falling
the sea will finally call me home

OH my... the poem and your drawing have me sitting here with tears running down my face. It's just beautiful... the perfect companion to Uli's poem!

This was such a beautiful drawing! I loved the subtle way you coloured the shades on Legolas' face, and his hair is just incredible. I can just hear the gulls, feel the wind and smell the sea! Loved the colours too... the lighter blue in the middle and stronger in the corners - complementing Legolas' hair so perfectly. The poem is filled with longing and accompanies the painting just wonderfully!

In short: This is one of my favourite drawings of yours!
